About Me

Medical Director, Pediatric Infectious Disease

I am a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. I care for children at every stage, from the tiniest newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit to adolescents approaching adulthood. I treat congenital, viral and bacterial infections. I also care for children who are immunocompromised, including those undergoing cancer treatment, living with organ transplants, or managing immune deficiencies, autoimmune conditions or inflammatory bowel disease. I also work with children who have fevers of unknown origin or recurrent, periodic fevers.

For more than 27 years, I have also served as medical director of Infection Control at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, working closely with teams across the hospital to support safe, attentive and high-quality care for children and their families.

I have always known I wanted to be a pediatrician. Caring for children and families during vulnerable times is a responsibility I hold with deep respect. Children bring joy, strength and hope into even the hardest moments and I am grateful every day to be part of their care. Over the course of my career, I’ve witnessed tremendous change in infectious disease—from illnesses that once had few treatments to the lifesaving impact of vaccines, research and collaborative care. These experiences continue to guide my work and the way I serve families.

In addition to my clinical work, I serve as chief of staff at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and participate in the Bioethics, Pharmacy, and Infection Control committees. I have also valued mentoring the next generation of physicians, including serving as president of the University of Miami Medical Alumni Association and working with students, residents and fellows.

The privilege of caring for children and walking alongside families through challenging times will always be at the heart of my work.
