Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders In This Section In This Section Conditions We TreatWhy Choose UsHow We Offer Patient SupportWhat to Expect We know how scary a cancer or blood disorder diagnosis can be. That’s why we take great pride in providing compassionate, patient- and family-centered care for children, adolescents and young adults with a range of conditions—from the rarest of childhood cancers to the most common blood disorders in children. Led by nationally recognized, board-certified hematologists/oncologists, our team of cancer and blood disorder specialists are expertly trained to treat a variety of pediatric malignancies and blood disorders. We are the only freestanding children’s hospital in Broward County to offer a dedicated pediatric hematology/oncology program that provides compassionate pediatric cancer and blood disorder care for patients across South Florida. Our hospital takes special interest in finding ways to improve safety and quality of care for our pediatric cancer patients. As a testament to this commitment, the Commission on Cancer (a program of the American College of Surgeons dedicated to developing standards for cancer programs nationwide) granted our pediatric cancer program a three-year accreditation in 2015 for exceeding standard requirements. In order to educate people in our community with limited access to care about steps they can take to prevent cancer, our Children’s Mobile Health Center offers prevention programs on multiple topics (e.g., smoking cessation, immunizations, nutrition, obesity) and we offer annual skin cancer screenings.
