Adopting a cart each quarter is one of the most meaningful ways your school or organization supports Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital patients directly — a hands-on commitment we highly encourage every All Star to build into its yearly rotation.
Quarterly Cart Sign-Up:
We recommend every school or organization adopt one cart each quarter — October, January, and April — as an ongoing commitment.
First, join the All Star Program by submitting the official interest form below.
Setup and restocking visits can be scheduled after school during the week or on weekends, and every donation is marked “Graciously donated by [School/Organization Name]” with the All Star logo.
Our Carts
Sensory Cart
Designed to help patients with sensory sensitivities, autism, anxiety, or overstimulation feel calmer and more at ease — available anytime, upon request.
Item Needs: Weighted stuffed animals, fidget toys, various textured sensory balls or squishies, noise-canceling headphones, sound machines, light machines, and other calming items. Confirm specifics with our team before collecting.
Art Cart
Gives kids a creative outlet on every patient floor — a great lower-lift option for smaller clubs or schools just getting started.
Item Needs: Crayons, markers, colored pencils, coloring books, sticker sheets, construction paper, and simple craft kits.
Zone-to-Go Cart
A mobile activity cart that brings developmentally appropriate play options directly to the bedside.
Item Needs: Travel-sized games, puzzles, portable toys, and single-use activity kits for patients to enjoy.
Caregiver Comfort Cart
Stocked with food and beverages for parents and caregivers at the bedside — many go hours without a proper meal.
Item Needs: Shelf-stable snacks, granola bars, coffee, tea, and bottled water. Individually wrapped items are preferred.

Start a Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital All Star Club
Create a new, student-led club at your school (in accordance with school bylaws) dedicated to supporting Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital through meaningful service projects.
Partner Through an Existing Club
Work through a service-focused organization like NHS, HOSA, Key Club, Student Government, or another leadership group to complete impactful projects that benefit patients and families.
No matter the path, your school or organization is committing to leadership, service, and real community impact!
What's Required vs. Optional
Required: designating a school or organization point of contact so we can coordinate activities and stay connected throughout the year.
Optional: everything else! We welcome participation at any level, so we’ll work with you to find the mix of fundraisers, donations, and community events that fits best.
Getting Started — Your First 60 Days
- Complete the online Interest Form to officially join the program — please resubmit anytime a detail changes, such as club meeting time, sponsor name, phone number, or email.
- Join the All Star Kickoff Call on Microsoft Teams, where we'll walk through the vision for this year's program. The time and date will be sent via calendar invite.
- Connect with your All Star Program Coordinator virtually as needed to confirm drive, event, or activity details throughout the year.
- Choose your first activity from Fundraisers, Donations, or Community Engagement Events.
- Request your All Star flyer, badge logo, and classroom pennant if you don't already have them.
- Share the news with your school or organization community!
