About Me

I am a pediatric endocrinologist at Memorial Healthcare System. I work with children and adolescents with diabetes (type 1 and 2), growth concerns, early and late puberty, and thyroid conditions. I also practice gender healthcare.

I always knew that I wanted a career in medicine and to work with young patients. I also wanted to specialize in an area of medicine where education played a role, and I could help teach and empower people to better take care of themselves. Pediatric endocrinology turned out to be the perfect fit and blended all my interests.

As a pediatric endocrinologist, I have a unique opportunity to spend a lot of time with my patients, getting to know them over many years and help them with conditions that impact all areas of their lives. One of my favorite aspects of my work is getting to watch my patients grow and mature over time. I get to witness them learning how to take charge of their health and their healthcare and to take care of themselves.

A key to this transformation is education. I find that when a patient and the family understand the patient’s condition and why we are treating it the way we are, we end up with the best outcomes.

In addition to working with patients and families, I’m also passionate about teaching medical students, residents and other medical professionals. I completed a Master Teacher and Leadership Development Program at George Washington University, taught at Children’s National Medical Center for many years and have taught many workshops for Broward County school nurses, educating them about management and care for students with diabetes.
