Memorial Healthcare System, one of the largest public healthcare systems in the U.S., has strategically re-aligned members of its executive team to better position the organization for future growth, optimize delivery of core services, and further innovate the consumer experience. The moves were announced by Memorial’s President and CEO Aurelio M. Fernandez III, FACHE.

  • Nina Beauchesne, FACHE, is now executive vice president and chief transformation officer and will be responsible for implementing programs that focus on new and different ways to deliver patient care.
  • Matthew Muhart has been named executive vice president and chief strategy officer and will guide Memorial’s new ventures in population health, transparency, and clinical integration, initiatives that transition the healthcare system into an outpatient and digitally-driven organization.
  • David Smith has been promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer. He was previously senior vice president.
  • Jeffrey S. Sturman moves to senior vice president and chief digital officer from chief information officer, with the new title better reflecting Sturman’s expanded responsibilities as Memorial continues to broaden its technology platforms.

“These progressive moves reinforce our commitment to increasing patient access to the highest-quality healthcare,” Fernandez said. “These executives and their teams will provide consumers with new, easier ways to obtain care, whether virtually or in-person, and help improve efficiencies to what is already an exemplary Memorial experience.”

Memorial had previously announced two other executive positions, naming Leah A. Carpenter executive vice president and chief operating officer and adding Dr. Marc L. Napp as executive vice president and chief medical officer.

Memorial Healthcare System is a national leader in quality care and patient, physician, and employee satisfaction. It is highly regarded for a patient and family-centered approach that prioritizes multi-disciplinary collaboration, research, innovation, and transparency.

A South Florida-based academic medical center, Memorial is committed to healing the body, mind, and spirit of those it cares for at six hospitals (including Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital), numerous primary care, urgent care, and 24/7 emergency care facilities, a health specialty center, and nursing home.
