Pediatric Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy
The Division of Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital offers comprehensive rehabilitation services to support children and adolescents with physical and neurological conditions that affect the functionality of the brain, spinal cord, limbs, muscles, and nerves. We support our pediatric patients through every phase of their rehabilitation process, including inpatient and outpatient care.
Our team of pediatric physiatrists provides rehabilitation management and long-term care coordination for children and adolescents, who are continually growing and changing. A physiatrist is a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation and treats the medical and rehabilitation concerns associated with physical and neurologic problems that lead to difficulties with function. Our pediatric physiatry physician services incorporate the medical and functional management of issues related to development, impairment and disability. The entire staff is dedicated to providing a patient- and family-centered environment to not only help you cope with your child's rehabilitation process, but to also help your child reach their full potential.
Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital was the first hospital in Broward and Palm Beach counties to have a dedicated and distinct pediatric comprehensive medical rehabilitation unit. As a tertiary care facility collaborating with Memorial Rehabilitation Institute, we care for children and adolescents with conditions resulting from illness, injury or chronic disabilities with complications. Committed to high quality standards of care, we are also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for our comprehensive integrated inpatient rehabilitation program.
