Advocacy and Advisory Programs
Our Patient and Family Advisory Councils help us continually improve the services we offer to the community. As a council member, you work alongside healthcare professionals to tackle issues that are important to patients and families. With your input, we design programs and services that meet real healthcare needs as patients and families define them.
Roles for Advisors
In addition to being on a formal committee, you can:
- Join a task force
- Become an advisory board member
- Evaluate programs
- Serve as co-faculty for staff education
- Mentor other families
- Review grants
- Review audiovisual and written materials
- Participate in focus groups
- Join a committee to hire new staff
- Help with fundraisers
- Participate in conferences and working meetings
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
How to Apply
To apply for a position as a patient and family advisor, download and turn in the completed application by either faxing to 954-265-0199 or bringing it to the next Family Advisory Council and / or Youth Advisory Council meeting that you are able to attend.
Youth Advisory Council
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) includes patients age 12 and older. During monthly meetings, they contribute information and opinions about many aspects of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Turn in the completed application by either faxing it to 954-265-0199 or bringing it to the next Family Advisory Council and/or Youth Advisory Council meeting you are able to attend.
