Meet Pediatric Neurosurgeon Laurence Davidson
We are pleased to welcome our new pediatric neurosurgeon, Laurence Davidson, MD, to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital family!
Dr. Davidson is board certified in neurological surgery and specializes in the care of children with a variety of central nervous system pathologies with an emphasis on:
- Apina bifida
- Brain tumors
- Chiari malformations
- Craniosynostosis
- Hydrocephalus
- Intracranial cysts
He has advanced training and extensive experience performing minimally invasive procedures including endoscopic surgery.
He earned his medical degree from Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA in 2003. He completed an internship in Neurosurgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA in 2004. Dr. Davidson completed Enfolded Subspecialty Training in Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, California in 2009 and a residency in Neurosurgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA in 2010. He also completed a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children’s National Medical Center Washington, District of Columbia in 2021.
Dr. Davidson spent ten years on Active Duty in the U.S. Army where he served as the director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Walter Reed Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and the AANS/CNS Section on Pediatric Neurological Surgery.
He continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve and has been selected for promotion to Colonel. He is also an adjunct professor of surgery and pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Services F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland.
In addition to providing patient care, Dr. Davidson is involved in clinical research and has published on a variety of topics including Chiari malformations, hydrocephalus, and brain tumors.
