Meet Pediatric Neurologist Julia Holtmann

We are pleased to welcome Julia Holtmann, MD, the medical director for Pediatric Neurology at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Health Specialty Center in Wellington, and board-certified pediatric neurologist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. She cares for children and adolescents with a variety of neurological and neurobehavioral disorders, as well as conditions such as:

  • Epilepsy
  • Movement disorders
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Headache disorders
  • Autistic-spectrum disorders
  • Developmental delays

In addition, Dr. Holtmann is a trained Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) provider, offering an effective non-pharmacological treatment for tic disorders.

She enjoys listening to her patient’s stories and understands how presenting symptoms are affecting them throughout their daily activities. Dr. Holtmann empowers her patients and their families with an understanding of their condition or symptom, and works with them to help make their lives better.

Before joining Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Dr. Holtmann was a pediatric neurologist at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York, and at the Center for Neurological and Neurodevelopmental Health in Rutherford, New Jersey. Throughout her career, she has been involved in teaching medical students, residents and nurse practitioner students.

Dr. Holtmann earned her medical degree from Leipzig University in Germany and completed her residency in Pediatrics at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York. She completed a fellowship in Pediatric Neurology at Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York in Long Island, New York.

In addition to working with patients, Dr. Holtmann is a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric Neurology and serves on the Child Neurology Society International Affairs Committee.
