Dr. Perryman is an internationally acclaimed surgeon with a long history of leadership in the Florida medical community.
Previous administrative positions include Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of Pediatric Heart Surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville and Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Veterans Administration Hospital in Miami, Florida. Currently, he is a Professor of Surgery at the University of the West Indies.
Dr. Perryman has published and lectured throughout his career, with teaching appointments at Duke University, the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and University of Florida College of Medicine. Research interests include the use of vascular clip devices in congenital heart surgery and the impact of profound hypothermia and circulatory arrest on regional cerebral temperature.
He has been active in professional and philanthropic organizations such as the Jamaican Children's Heart Fund, a non-profit organization devoted to providing Jamaican children with cardiac surgery. He is frequently cited in "America's Top Doctors."
