Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital

Dr. Martinez is Medical Director of the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Division of Pediatric Pulmonology. A board-certified pediatric pulmonologist, he received his medical degree from the Universidad Central del Este in the Dominican Republic. He completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at MetroHealth Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland; and a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Dr. Martinez is the recipient of the 1994 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Third Year Clinical Research Fellowship Award and the Metrohealth Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University “Good Fellow” award for camaraderie and teaching. He has been principal investigator and co-investigator of many studies on asthma and cystic fibrosis.

Before coming to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, he practiced pediatric pulmonology and directed the Sleep Disorders Center and Cystic Fibrosis Center at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. He has also served as clinical assistant professor at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa from June 1995 – June 2003, prior to coming to Hollywood.

Professional Affiliations

Dr. Martinez is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American Sleep Disorders Association. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Chest Physicians, and he is board certified in sleep medicine and is a Diplomat, American Board of Sleep Medicine. He serves as an American Academy of Pediatrics Organizational Representative to NSART (National Sleep Awareness Roundtable).
