Level 1 Trauma Center
The Division of Pediatric Surgery at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital includes Gary A. Birken, MD; Julie A. Long, MD; and David Drucker, MD. Dr. Birken is the hospital's Surgeon in Chief and Chief of Pediatric Trauma, and Dr. Long is Medical Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Program/Pediatric Surgery Medical Education. Our surgeons, nurses and other team members provide care in a compassionate and nurturing environment that reflects a patient- and family-centered care philosophy. Over the years, we have treated thousands of patients from across the United States, as well as the Caribbean.

Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Trauma Center is a level 1 facility. This means we have a comprehensive team of experienced specialists ready to treat trauma patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
