Electrophysiology

The Electrophysiology Service at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms, or heart arrhythmias, in pediatric patients. Our highly trained electrophysiology team works with the experienced physicians, nurses and other professionals in the Cardiac Center in the effort to help our patients achieve ideal outcomes.

Under the direction of Ming-Lon Young, MD, internationally renowned expert in cardiac electrophysiology and a pioneer of ablation therapy in children, the Electrophysiology Service at the Cardiac Center is one of the busiest in the region. Our program focuses on various cardiac rhythm disturbances in infants, children and adults with congenital heart defects leading to arrhythmia. To date, Dr. Young has performed more than 1,100 cardiac ablations.

Our team will evaluate your child using innovative and sophisticated technology to pinpoint the origin or the pathway of spread of an arrhythmia. Focused techniques can then be used to treat or prevent those arrhythmias without the use of medication.

Our cardiac electrophysiologist works closely with your child's clinical cardiologist and/or primary care physician to develop the appropriate course of arrhythmia treatment for your child.
