BREAK - Respite Services for Special Needs Children and Families

Caregivers sometimes need a short break. BREAK services provide temporary relief to parents or caregivers of children (5-12 years of age) with emotional and/or behavioral disorders. Respite is a critical service for families as many break down and loved ones get placed in out-of-home settings. BREAK provides caregivers the opportunity to devote time to other family members and friends as well as the ability to complete tasks and activities. Community based services will be located at Memorial's Community Youth Services facility (7031 Taft Street in Hollywood).
FAMILY T.I.E.S. - An In-Home Family Prevention Model Program

Substance abuse prevention, family preservation, academic achievement FAMILY T.I.E.S. (Therapeutic Intervention to Empower and Strengthen) is an in-home, family-centered approach to effective parenting and building strong families. The primary goal is to assist the entire family in developing the skills necessary to address family-influenced risk factors. This program creates the opportunities to promote quality time and family bonding. Issues include family goal setting, relapse prevention, family communication skills, clear expectations about drugs and alcohol, and academic achievement. FAMILY T.I.E.S. works with the entire family system to achieve positive change.
HEALTHY FAMILIES - A Home Visitation model to prevent abuse and neglect

HEALTHY FAMILIES is a community based, voluntary home visiting program that promotes positive parent-child interaction, child growth and development working toward the prevention of child abuse and neglect before it starts. Families are identified through a screening process. Services are offered to families from the birth to five years of age, depending on the needs of each individual family.
HEALTHY START - Primary Care Services, Memorial Teen Pregnancy and Parenting Project, Substance Exposed Newborns

The Primary Care Services will work with prenatal and postnatal women who are at risk" during their pregnancy or at birth in the home or directly at the Primary Care Center. Services include, but are not limited to: childbirth education, breastfeeding services, parenting education, care coordination, midwife assistance, nutritional education, and linkage to WIC and Medicaid.
The Teen Pregnancy and Parenting Project is the only clinic in south Broward County specifically designed for pregnant teens and young women (under 21), adolescent parents and their children. Services include, but are not limited to: childbirth education, breastfeeding services, parenting education, care coordination, direct linkage to Memorial Primary Care, midwife assistance, nutritional education, and linkage to WIC and Medicaid.
M.O.M.S. - Mothers Overcoming Maternal Stress

Greater South County
MOMS is for women who experience depression or exhibit stress-related risk factors. Mothers will be referred for an in-home screening and assessment based on the risk factors they currently are experiencing. During the assessment the mothers will be "triaged" into care, based on individualized need. MOMS services will include identifying the "baby blues" and referring for education and self-help/support, to a therapeutic menu of In-Home Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Nurturing Parenting, coaching, and/or mobile case management services, depending on severity and complexity of each participant's circumstances. Additionally, medical and psychiatric services will be available for those who are in need of such care. In-Home service delivery eliminates virtually every barrier for access to care, including transportation, childcare, and office hours.
NEW BEGINNINGS Adolescent Outpatient Individual & Group Therapy

South Broward County - Community based in homes, schools, and other settings
Substance abuse, crime prevention, and academic improvement. Counseling services designed to improve the functioning or prevent further deterioration of persons with mental health and/or substance abuse problems. Services are provided on a regularly scheduled basis or in times of increased stress or crisis. In home on site services are also available in New Beginnings.
