Community/Volunteer Programs

Community/Volunteer Programs

Our dedicated team of volunteers makes many of our activities and services possible. Many members of our community and staff give of their time to make the hospital experience a little less scary and a bit more fun for our patients and their families:

Caring Cuddlers

Sometimes families can't be with their child in the hospital at all times. Our volunteers rock newborns, infants and toddlers to sleep and offer big hugs for all patients.

Children's Mobile Health Center

Children in South Broward have pediatric healthcare services delivered right to their neighborhoods and schools, thanks to the Children's Mobile Health Center. Services include physical examinations, vision and hearing screenings, immunizations and physician referrals for children and dependents to age 21.

Fundraising

From health fairs to festivals, our volunteers help Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital bring quality healthcare and awareness to the community.

Homework Helpers

In partnership with the Broward County School Board, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital has one on-site schoolteacher to assist patients who are unable to attend school. Volunteers who have a flair for Algebra or English help our patients keep up with their homework.

Music, Dance, Cooking, and Art Programs

Dancers, singers, guitar players, cooks and artists have taken their creativity to new levels by volunteering their talents at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.

Pet-A-Pet

Some of our volunteers are a bit furrier than most! Well-trained four-legged pets and their owners help brighten the day of families at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
