Family Advisory
Children’s & Family Services
This formal advisory group of parents, family members and staff enables direct input and influence on policies, programs and practices impacting children and families at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. Family-centered services are dependent on families having an equal role in planning and decision making about their children — and the community helping to develop, organize and deliver services.
Family Advisory Council members:
- Assess needs
- Evaluate programs
- Assist in orientation of new staff and ongoing in-service program
- Facilitate support groups
- Develop family activities
- Mentor other families
- Participate in focus groups, conferences and fundraisers
If you are interested in becoming a Family Advisory Council member, ask yourself:
- What issues interest me the most?
- What do I hope to achieve by participating as an advisor?
- What skills and knowledge can I bring to the Council?
