About Morton N. Schwartzman, MD, FAAP, FACCP
Dr. Schwartzman is the medical director of the Joe DiMaggio Cystic Fibrosis Center.
He graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine, interned at Los Angeles County General Hospital and had a pediatric residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He has specialized in pulmonary diseases for over forty years, working for much of that time in a private practice and at UM/Jackson. He has been an attending physician at multiple South Florida hospitals, and he has been at Joe DiMaggio since 1993, where he where he has served as a member of the executive committee as well as Vice Chief of Pediatrics of the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and started the Cystic Fibrosis Center. Other posts include chief of pediatric medicine and president of the medical staff at Miami Children’s Hospital and several teaching positions at Nova Southeastern University, Barry University and the University of Miami.
Dr. Schwartzman’s many awards include the “Spirit of Healing Award” from Memorial Healthcare System, the Presidential Who’s Who among Professional Activeness 2008, the Mark Snyder, MD, Community Service Award through the American Lung Association of Dade-Monroe 1992, and the Dade-Monroe Lung Association Recognition and Appreciation Award (five-time winner).
Professional Affiliations
Dr. Schwartzman is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and of the National Boards. Other affiliations include the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Cranio-Facial Society, the American Lung Association of Florida, the American Medical Association, the American Physicians Fellowship, the American Thoracic Society, the Association for the Care of Asthma, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Lung Association of South Florida, Medical Asthma Consultant for the School Board of Broward County- Health Education Services Department 2008 and many more.
